little purses

Here are a few of my handmade little purses.
Each with a beautiful vintage button.

Here I have use a selection of buttons, glass, mother of pearl and fabric covered. I chose them for this piece because I wanted them all to be different shades of white and cream.

This one is being wrapped and sent to a friend. A belated birthday present. I hope she likes it.

a trip away ...

Last month my boyfriend and I stayed at Brook Farm B&B, near Ludlow.
It's a beautiful old farmhouse set in picturesque countryside, surrounded by woodland and meadows

When we arrived we were treated to tea and cake in the owner's amazing garden full of roses. It was a perfect summers day.

Breakfast time at 'a nice little place in the country'

There was a farmers market in Ludlow the day we visited. It's a slow food town, so lots of great places to eat!

Lunch by the river at Green's Cafe

A new antique/craft shop had just opened. A wear-house full of bric a brac, vintage fabrics and craft makers. I was in heaven! These photo's are of the retro coffee lounge

buttons and stamps

I found these stamps at a flea market. It was so hard to choose the ones to take home. I love the colours and designs, also the post marks printed on them.

My mum found the buttons for me ... the packaging is lovely. I wonder who owned them before.

I've been busy making cards using the stamps, buttons, lace and fabric swatches. I've used similar colours for each design. I think they work really well.

dinner ...

After work I cycled down to our allotment to pick some veg for dinner.

This is the first time I've grown dill. The flowers are so pretty, that I picked a bunch for the kitchen. Just got back before it started to rain.

I'm sure it taste better when you've grown it yourself.

open studio

Envelope purse and button purse. I enjoy working with reclaimed fabrics like Victorian lace, antique buttons and silk scarves, their faded colours and worn edges add to the character of my designs.

During the show we served tea and cakes using vintage china in our garden cafe.

my first blog....

Welcome to my blog. I wanted to write about my work, my influences and everything I love.
I thought I would start with my open studio exhibition.
I love vintage fabrics and are always a central theme in my work.

This is the summer house in my parents garden, where I displayed my work. It's a perfect setting. I dressed up the summer house with bunting and inside I added an old stockman, a vintage singer sewing machine and a white dressing table that I bought from a bric-a-brac shop.

Plum pink ribbon purse, displayed on the dressing table with old french love letters. I even have the envelopes. The writing is beautiful...

This is my prized possession, a fashion house stockman, bought for only £20! Perfect for displaying my handmade corsages.
