saturday stuff

inspiration

How's your weekend going? I've been at home working on some new pieces for a brand new gallery opening up in the grounds of Blenheim Palace in Woodstock. The Oxfordshire Crafts Gallery, as it will be called, will sell work from local artists and they have asked me for a collection of my handmade accessories. How lovely!
So I've got until the end of the month to get sewing, as the gallery opens on the 9th February.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

winter

teasgarden birds

At this time of year when it's looking grey and misty it's easy to stay inside and not do much, but I always feel better for getting outside. In the winter you get those quiet, still days when everything seems to be hibernating, trees are bare, little birds dart from the hedgerows and the sun is nowhere to be seen. We took a picnic on our walk and ate most of it as soon as we left to house.
I love the pictures in this garden birds book, which I bought recently, they illustrate winter perfectly.

happy 2013

happy new year!
Happy New Year!

We saw the new year in with a group of friends at our local pub, sat by the fire, twinkly candle lights, drinking champagne, clinking glasses and lots of laughing, it was a great way to spend new years eve.

It's traditional to go for a long walk on new years day, so that's what we did. After a hearty breakfast, we got wrapped up, wellies on, and off out across the park. The rest of the day I've been drinking tea and watching Alfred Hitchcock's Rebecca, which I love, and the perfect lazy afternoon film.

Thanks for visiting my blog during 2012, it really wouldn't be the same without you x

christmas is coming...

christmas wrapping

I've been feeling quite Christmassy over the last few days, buying gold ribbon and stars and little silver bells to use for wrapping gifts, sorting out the Christmas decorations for the tree, hanging a holly wreath on our front door and even making a batch of mince pies.

shop update

lace pearl brooch

Just a little etsy shop update for you. I've added a few more handmade lace beaded brooches, of which I have also made a selection for my Christmas exhibition in Woodstock. I've made a dusky pink one for myself too, now pinned on to my cardigan. I now need to start thinking about Christmas present shopping...or Christmas present making!

Are you ready for Christmas yet?

The weather has turned cold and frosty with icy white skies and bare sparkly trees.
It definitely feels like Christmas is coming....so it's a good job I have finished making all my handmade Christmas cards. I've loved finding all the special pieces to decorate them, from vintage postcards, old music sheets, lace and buttons and giving them a final dusting of gold glitter.

I have a selection for sale in my Etsy Shop , and also at the Old Fire Station Shop in Oxford

I hope you like them...
