into the country

Untitled Untitled

I'm sat in my living room writing this post with a mug of peppermint tea, I can hear the rain on the window pains and I'm wondering if this is the end of the summer. It's been feeling very autumnal here recently. So it's even nicer looking back at these very summery photos of a weekend away last month. We were staying in a rambling old farmhouse near Ludlow. It's one of my favourite places to get away to...I love the countryside, so being surrounded by green fields, roses, willow trees, veg patches, old farm buildings and the sound of summer birds singing away..I'm one very happy girl.

One of the things I love about going way is waking up and having a relaxed breakfast, all made for you, instead of rushing to try and catch my bus to work...

Look at this amazing weeping willow tree, so beautiful, I felt like I was in a Tim Walker photoshoot!

This was the room we were staying in, full of freshly cut flowers from the garden, vintage books, cosy blankets and pretty wallpaper. The bathroom even had a roll top bath, which was so nice to have a soak in after a long walk through the coutryside.

petersham nurseries

Sorry about the lack of posts recently, last week just flew by! I hope you all had a lovely Easter.
I wanted to show you some photos of our trip to Petersham Nurseries in London, it really is an amazing place. We had lunch in the beautiful greenhouse restaurant, which was filled with ferns, lemon trees, tulips, roses and blossom flowers. I loved the whole feel of the place and have been inspired by their displays for my own open studio exhibition, where I  exhibit my textiles in a garden summer house. I have already bought a few ferns. We walked around the nursery getting lots of ideas, buying herbs and taking photos, then walked across the meadow back into Richmond and dreamed of living in one of the big houses overlooking the river....

inspiring colours

Have you been enjoying the lovely weather? I was stuck inside at work yesterday, but I'm going to make the most of tomorrow and get my boring jobs done first thing and then outside to enjoy the sunshine.

A few photos from my work room; I bought some beautiful silks recently, inspired by the colours of the Hellebore flowers on my pin board. I have already made some little purses out of it with broderie anglaise detail.

I have filled this old glass sweet jar with lace and trims, it's perfect as I can see what pieces I have rather than them being hidden away.
