vintage florals - shop update

floral coin purse

I've been having fun this week, setting up these little photo shoots of my work. My mum found this vintage book on alpine flowers in a charity shop and it's made the prefect backdrop for my handmade purses.
It's a beautiful book, I love how the flowers, berries and leaves on each page match the colours in the fabrics I have used.

All these pieces are now for sale in my Folksy Shop, which I have been updating over the last few days. I'd love to know what you think?

This bronze silk envelope purse is one of my favourites. I've been saving the vintage lace flower motif for something special, and when I found this beautiful bronze silk I thought it would be just right. I've embellished it with a few glass seed beads and pearls, I love the simplicity of this design.

Just to let you know, that my silver silk and vintage lace clutch purse has been featured in the online magazine 'UK Handmade', as part of their jewellery and accessories showcase which features gorgeous handmade products from designer/makers from across the UK, all very exciting.
Have a lovely weekend....

shop update

handmade envelope purse

Did you have a nice Sunday?  I went to a car boot sale with my mum, no bargains unfortunately but we made up for it by having tea and delicious crumpets from the good and proper tea company who had their little van there.

I wanted to let you know that I've added a few handmade purses to my Folksy Shop shelves. They are all made from beautiful soft silk and vintage broderie anglaise, which I love to work with.

These purses are ideal for keeping safe all those little treasures; jewellery, love letters, cards & loose change.

Well, I hope you like them....x

folksy shop update

folksy shop

I've been spring cleaning my sewing room, a job I've been putting off for a while now. I've sorted through boxes of fabrics, cottons & lace, jars of buttons and zips, old magazines and sketchbooks, keeping only pieces that I really love and have space for. I already feel more creative. I'll try and take some photos to show you all my hard work.

n.
1. A flowering plant that grows in a natural, uncultivated state.
2. The flower of such a plant.

It feels like spring is a long way off today, but in my sewing room I have colourful flowers everywhere. I've been drinking hot chocolate, sat at my computer adding lots of lovely handmade flower brooches to my ' found & sewn' folksy shop.

wild flowers

I have quite a collection of vintage wild flower books. I love learning the names of wild flowers like Venus's looking glass, Penny royal, Wild candytuft and Cloudberry.  I have already signed up to the Wildflowers count this year where you can take part in the UK's only annual national wild plant survey.

to do lists

folksy shop

How's your January going so far? I know it's not most peoples favourite month, but I always think it's a good time to make plans, sort things out, make lists and look forward to the nicer months ahead.

I love buying new stationary and I've just bought a diary for 2014, I have so many notebooks it's ridiculous but I find I'm always jotting down ideas, places to visit, wish lists, new designs and general 'to do' lists, whether this makes me more productive, I'm not so sure...

I have just opened up a Folksy shop, have a look here. I'll be stocking it with lots more handmade items soon and I would love to sell more work online this year. Do you have an online shop, where you sell your own work? If you have any tips or advice, that would be great!
