liberty love

sewing room

You may have already guessed but I do love Liberty prints, they are dotted around my house in the form of cushions, lampshades, covered notepads and even pincushion mice. There are some great ideas in this Liberty book of home sewing.

Today I painted this wooden chair in cornflower blue for my sewing room and then made an envelope cushion cover using this Liberty print. I love little projects like this, in no time you can make a big difference to a room.

Well I'm feeling pretty chuffed with myself, so I'm off to make a cup of tea.

Have you been making any home improvements recently? I'd love to know.

summer sunshine

home sweet home

I was up early this morning with the sun streaming in through the curtains, so I thought I would make a cup of tea and finish off these lavender bags, before heading off to our local farmers market. We came home with pretty looking berries, yellow Patty pan courgettes and delicious cinnamon Danish buns ( which did not make it home)

Another early start tomorrow, as we are off to Newbury Flea Market first thing to snap up all those bargains... I haven't been bric a brac shopping for a while, so I'm really excited as this one is always full of great stuff. I'll let you know what I find.

Oxfordshire Artweeks

open studio shelf wild flowers

Thanks to everyone who has visited my Artweeks open studio exhibition so far. I've meet some really nice people and had lots of wonderful friends come along too. Natasha and Zoe took some lovely photos from their trip last Sunday. The sun was shinning and everybody was drinking tea and eating cake in the garden. Bliss!

I'm just getting ready for the last few days of the show, making some more handmade cards and lavender bags to sell. The weather has been wild today, so some sunshine tomorrow would be great, thanks!

Open Saturday 25th May - Monday 27th May: 12-6pm. More details here.

oh so pretty

pretty pretty

I'm going to be spending the next few days (and weeks) happily sewing away, as I have loads to do before my open studio exhibition starts on the 18th May. For details of my show click here, It would be lovely if you could make it! There are lots of other artists and craft people exhibiting in Oxfordshire Artweeks throughout the month of May, it's really inspiring to see what other people have been creating and their studio spaces.

I'm so pleased that you all liked my little vintage collage pictures, thanks for your lovely comments  x

spring collection

fabrics!

I somehow managed to turn the mess above into these little snap frame purses. It took me ages to work out a pattern to fit the frame and get the shape right. I haven't quite finished them yet, but I'm happy with how they look so far.

I've made a few of them using different prints and lace, I like the idea of displaying them on colourful ribbons at my next show in May.

I'm really busy making lots of new pieces at the moment, so I'll be sharing more photos soon.

stay at home

I've woken up to the sound of pouring rain, but I don't mind too much if the weather is gloomy, as I've got a busy few days of sewing ahead, making pieces for a Christmas exhibition I am taking part in. So the plan is to stay at home and tuck myself away and get making! I've some pretty lace brooches and wintry velvet clutch bags to finish, plus I need to get started on a selection of handmade cards....well I had better get going then ......see you soon.

in my purse...

What would you keep in a little handmade purse? .... a vintage compact mirror, a hand written letter and a favourite necklace....

or some loose change, business cards and stamps....or maybe a collection of precious things; a diamante leaf brooch, a beautiful feather found on a summers walk and pretty buttons....

treasure

I've been sat at my desk, radio on, making a few more pieces for my next show at West Ox Arts Gallery in Bampton. I will be exhibiting along side other members of the Oxfordshire crafts guild.
Hidden in this mess are some little lace brooches I have been working on. Can you spot them?

and this mess resulted in some cards being made.

enjoy the rest of your week..

faded charms

I've had a lovely day at home today, enjoying the sunshine in the garden, sowing salad and herb seeds. I so love having a little outside space to potter around in.

When the sun goes in that's my cue to go back inside and start working on my little lace brooches for the next exhibition in July.

These ones I sold at my last show. I'm really pleased that people like them as they are my favourite things to make at the moment.

sunday sketchbooks

On Sunday I packed up all my sketchbooks, patterns, fabrics, samples and buttons and headed off to Waterperry Art gallery, where I spent the day chatting to lots of lovely people about my work and what inspires me to create my handmade accessories. One kind lady offered to send me some of her vintage handmade lace which I am very excited about.

I have a collection of my bags and purses on show as part of Artweeks along with five other artists until the end of May.
